Easter Weekend

We had a very nice Easter weekend. We started things off by going to the Heber Creeper which I wrote about in my previous post.

Saturday morning Stan, the boys, and I got up and headed out to Deseret Peak where Tooele City had organized a very nice Easter Day Celebration which included an Easter Egg Hunt done by ages. Ages 0-2 were allowed to go first, and they were the only group where one parent was allowed into the gated area. The kids were able to grab anything they could find, and the parent was asked to just hold the bag open for the child to place the items he found. George did a great job. He completely understood what was going on, and he put a lot of effort into making sure he got his fair share. The funny thing is that I did not listen to the instructions or did not hear them, because as soon as we entered the gated area I allowed George to start gathering his loot. They got a hold of me and asked me to dump our bag of goodies and wait until we had officially started for the age group. Oooops! I guess I'm just a bit competitive at heart. George found a bunch of candy, a stuffed animal, a medium sized ball etc.

Here is Gregory Going down this giant slide.

Now it is George's turn to go down the slide.

He wasn't quite sure if he should go or not...

and here George goes.

Gregory was the next to go. I was not allowed to be in the gated area but had to fight other eager parents to find a spot around the fence line. I wasn't able to get a very good spot, but I was able to keep an eye on Gregory anyway. I don't understand why, but one of the helpers that was allowed in took Gregory's large sack and replaced it with a smaller one. I guess it didn't really matter, but when Gregory found something that he liked he was not able to fit it in his sack, so spent most of his time fitting a small stuffed animal in. By the time he had his animal placed in that little sack, most of the other candy and stuff was taken by the other children. I acted like he was a superstar and did great, but in reality he probably received less than most other children. It really didn't matter, Gregory had a great time, and when we got home, Gregory and George dumped out their bags and chose to share everything they both found.

Easter Sunday was a wonderful day. We had the boys follow their own trail of Easter candy, toys, and bags of candy. They each had a basket where they were able to gather their goodies. I was so proud of them, that they, especially Gregory, waited for each other and did it like a team. At the end of their trail, they each had a small basket waiting for them. It was fun to see their reactions. It was perfect. We later went for dinner at the Nelson's (Stan's parents), it was a very lovely feast. Afterwards we headed to my parents where the boys went on another Easter hunt to find additional baskets for them and for Stan and I. We had a fun time all gathered together, talking, laughing, and enjoying the evening together. It was a nice way to end such a perfect day.
Here they are Easter morning, we just woke up Gregory and George
and they are very excited to start following their candy trail.

They each had their own candy trail to follow.

Easter is such a fun holiday, but we celebrate it not because it's fun to eat chocolate and give our children new toys, but we celebrate Easter because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and that He loves each and every one of us.

I hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!
