Co. Clare, Ireland

The First weekend in June we went to Clare. My friend Megan, found a groupon for a holiday home in Co. Clare. So it only costed 50 euro for three nights! It had a kitchen so we took our groceries with us and it ended up being a great trip that did not cost much at all. The boys were so excited to get to stay at the holiday home for three nights. It seemed like a really long time for them! Some of the highlights were going to Spanish Point Beach which is part of the Wild Atlantic Way, visiting The Burren and The Poulnabrone Portal Tomb, and driving around County Clare-- which was beautiful. Seeing the sights was wonderful, but I also enjoyed just sitting around the holiday home on Sunday playing board games and visiting with our boys and with our friends. It is nice to take time to just relax. I really enjoyed this weekend, it got me excited for summer.

Spanish Point Beach

The boys really had a good time with this beach because the driest sand was on the hill. Although it made for a slightly uncomfortable picnic spot, they boys loved it. They ran around up and down this sand hill, they slid down it, ran up it, and dug into it. They found a lot of seashells as well.

Driving in Co. Clare

We were able to visit lots of adorable villages and see beautiful countryside. I loved the scenery. Ireland is a beautiful island, and especially Co. Clare.

The Poulnabrone Portal Tomb

I really don't know much about this other than it is very very very old. Here's what wikipedia has to say about it. Poulnabrone dolmen (Poll na mBrón in Irish, meaning "hole of the quern stones" (bró in Irish)) is a portal tomb in the BurrenCounty ClareIreland, dating back to the Neolithic period, probably between 4200 BC and 2900 BC.

The Picnic at the Lake

This was a nice place to stop on our way home for a picnic. After the kids were done eating they took the leftover bread and fed it to the ducks that were on the lake. They loved feeding the ducks and other birds that began to gather around them.
